Our Story
Armature is a luxury unisex brand for the real, the raw and the honest.
Based in Los Angeles, we use artisanal techniques to handcraft jewelry, accessories and clothing that have an authentic feel and avant-garde edge. Our designs use only the finest materials and include French lace dating back to the 1800s and hand-selected gemstones and diamonds sourced from Jaipur, India.
We have an unconventional approach to multi-disciplinary design, combining sculpture, painting and mixed media art with couture techniques and a streetwear sensibility. Our creations come to life using technically difficult and rare practices, including the ancient art of wax casting and the iconic Madame Grès-style of pleating.
Armature is sought out by visionary creators, collectors and tastemakers around the world. Billie Eilish, Kylie Jenner, Janelle Monaé, Janet Jackson, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Machine Gun Kelly, Miguel and Travis Scott are just some of the artists who are drawn to our creations.
Photographers like Mert and Marcus Piggot, David LaChappelle, Ellen von Unwerth, Ekaterina Belinkskaya, along with stylists like, Christina Ehrlich, Jill Jacobs and Maryam Malakpour have also included Armature in their creative projects from print to film.
We are regularly featured in high fashion editorials for Vogue.com, Paper, Galore, Nylon, Complex, Cosmopolitan and Vanity Fair, and have graced the covers of The Guardian, OUT100, Variety and The Times to name but a few.
Our Founder
Designer and creative director Sara Angelucci launched Armature at Style Fashion Week LA in 2016.
With a natural flair for sewing, drawing and creating, Sara moved from Canada to California in 2006 to pursue her passion for fine art and fashion design.
She was mentored by prolific artist Flo Perkins and then trained by Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, and has learnt her craft from some of the most talented creatives in America today. Other notable names include Barbara Tfank, Armani Exchange, Tadashi Shoji, David Miester, Halston and Hurley, all of whom have helped Sara along her creative journey. Throughout the years, fashion activist B.Akerlund has been a supporting visionary to the Armature brand too.
With Armature, Sara's mission is to bring a unique exploration of integrity and beauty into the world of art and fashion.
“The word Armature refers to the framework a sculpture is built on, and I base all of my pieces on the framework of the body. The natural curves and angles of the human shape inform everything I create, so that my designs can become one with you.” – Sara
